Destination Weddings have become more and more popular throughout the years and San Francisco is high up on that list. Along with pairing your weekend celebration with our stunning InterContinental Mark Hopkins, there are so many things to do in the area that will make the trip worth-while for so many of your guests.

Maybe start with a Welcome Reception with some signature drinks while watching the sunset from our classic Top of the Mark. What a great way to start an unforgettable weekend with some of the best views you will see of our historic city. This is also a great chance to visit some touristy locations of this quintessential town. Check out the curviest road in the city on Lombard Street, take a cable car ride through Union Square for some great views and shopping and maybe a ferry ride to view the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

If you want some great Italian food, just take a 5-minute ride to North Beach where you will find fantastic pastas, pizzas and gelato. Or maybe you would like a livelier vibe with rooftops, spicy foods and live music? The Mission is a great place to check out then. If you want to go where all the hip spots are, go out to the Marina where it’s close to the Bay, Chrissy Fields, the Presidio and the gorgeous Palace of Fine Arts.

Let’s venture up North and visit the lovely countryside of Napa and Sonoma County, where you can taste some of the best wines in the world. You can go on a wine train or simply pick out some of your favorite wineries that you would like to visit and go from there. There are tons of amazing restaurants to visit along the way as well. A few cute towns to stop in are St. Helena, Calistoga and Healdsburg.

If you wanted to go to the West, why not take a drive to Carmel and Monterey? Delicious Seafood and beautiful beaches await you there. Having a home base in San Francisco as a destination for your wedding is a wonderful place to be able to visit so many of the lovely places that Northern California has to offer.
